Staying Active for the Holidays
While the holidays can be extremely fun, they can lead to a lot of sitting, and of course eating. It’s important to try and keep active and watch what your intake of food an alcohol. Here’s a few recommendations to get you through the winter holidays!
- Moderation is key! Moderate your food intake (especially those sweets), alcohol intake and time spent sitting or laying down.
- Exercise! Take a family member out with you for accountability. Walk the block a few times. Cut out time to get your blood flowing.
- Elevate our legs! If you are experiencing some discomfort, try elevating your legs while hanging out on the couch with family.
- Sit correctly! If you are having lots of family gatherings that require a lot of sitting, refrain from crossing your legs for extended periods of time.
- Wear loose fitting clothing! Items like Spanx or or tight pants can restrict the blood flow to your groin area.
- Wear good shoes! If you happen to be standing or cooking a lot over the holidays, good shoes and good posture are very helpful
